Michael Gredler is an artist currently residing in Provincetown, Massachusetts where he focuses his work on oil painting and photography. Michael’s passion for artistic expression happened in his late teen years when he attended summer session in Life Drawing and Photography at the esteemed Rhode Island School of Design. That experience led him to pursue a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design and Photography from S.U.N.Y. Purchase.

Michael moved to Provincetown in 2002 and dabbled in various creative endeavors before focusing on the medium of oil painting under the direction of Steven Kennedy.  His early subject matter was primarily still life in his studio and landscapes derived from his own photographs of the breathtaking surroundings on the Outer Cape. His workshifted to portraiture, a subject matter he found both exhilarating and challenging and something he has focused on primarily in recent years with much commercial success. “It is wonderful to be able to reside in perhaps the oldest “artist’s colony” in the country and be inspired by the illustrious roster of artists who have used Provincetown as their muse” describes Michael. “Painting portraits has become my passion, it is so exciting to
watch a painting take on a life of it’s own; in one instant there is this amalgamation of color and shape on the canvas and with a simple brushstroke it all begins to come together.”
